But more than chiefly, a key reason the 3rd gen Dot sounds a lot better and louder is it requires more power, significant, unlike the 2nd gen Dot which has a standard micro USB ability port, the 3rd gen is powered by a proprietary plug and a much larger wall wart.

What you come across every bit a disadvantage, nosotros see as an advantage. We never enabled the always listening feature (push button button required) that was originally missing from the Tap either.

Our home is already covered past Echo devices then the Tap is primarily a roaming smart streaming device for us. Perfect for our needs.

Every bit already noted, nosotros already accept solid Alexa coverage in our home so it would be redundant.

    • @jzmacdaddy Alright, I'm gonna clear the air a bit, because it seems like there's a misunderstanding here. I don't arraign you if you choose non to read this whole comment.

Firstly, correlation does non necessarily equal causation, especially here. I value privacy. That does non mean I am paranoid. Granted, I'm certain virtually by and large paranoid people highly value their privacy, merely not all people who value their privacy are paranoid. Meet what I mean?

Secondly, I'm fairly confident that valuing one'southward own privacy is quite universal amongst all humans, at least those living in technologically avant-garde parts of the earth like (I'd presume) yourself and myself. Equally a very obvious example, it's why we accept stalls separating public toilets, and bathrooms with locks on the doors (and doors at all).

Most people don't similar having people eavesdropping on them, whatever the subject or activity. Legality has nothing to do with privacy. Information technology's another correlation =/= causation issue. People doing illegal activities (victimless or not is a whole other loaded conversation) tend to wish to continue private so as to avoid problem. However, not everybody who values their privacy is doing illegal activities. I believe the whole "I have zip to hide" thing is a non-argument for this reason. You don't accept "accept anything to hide" to value your privacy.

I bring this upshot up in the first place partially in jest; to brand fun of the fact that and then many people are ready and willing to throw their privacy and anonymity out the window for a little extra convenience. Only on the more sincere side, information technology concerns me as well, every bit our order has been lining up more and more than with the term "Orwellian" in the past couple of decades.

This is a long comment on things that (I believe) shouldn't even need to be said, merely you had some assumptions in your annotate I wanted to clear up in a respectful way. Sorry if it was a redundant read for you. I hope at the very least you lot understand where I'm coming from a lilliputian amend now. No disrespect to you, I did my best to keep this at-home and collected. Have a good one, hope your twelvemonth is going well so far. My dad only had a stroke on the night of the 2nd/morning of the 3rd, and I was visiting him in the hospital when I read your reply. So I felt the need to exist extra nice. Anyway, peace.
